I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m really excited about October. Much as I don’t like to say goodbye to summer, October is so full of awesome veg/vegan events that I can’t wait for all of it to start.
A sample of the awesome to come:
- World Vegetarian Day — Oct. 1st
- Vegetarian Awareness Month — all month
- World Go Vegan Week — Oct. 24th-31st
- Vegan MoFo — all month online
In addition to all of that, there is a local veg event, the Capital Region Vegetarian Expo, on October 2nd!
In the past, I wasn’t really the type to get involved or “spread the word,” so to speak. But this year I’m really feeling the pull to get into these veg events as much as possible. I participated in Vegan MoFo last year and am excited to do it again, and I’ve been looking into volunteering to help out at the Veg Expo. I also think it would be fun to organize a local vegan event for World Go Vegan Week and have been trying to get permission to host a screening of Food, Inc.
I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but I like it! Ever since I went all the way vegan, I’ve felt more and more compelled to read about, talk about, blog about, and generally share the experience of food. There are other reasons for this, which I won’t go into detail about in this post, but overall there’s something about learning the true connection between food and bodily health that makes me want to share it with others. There’s so much information floating around about what’s “good” and “bad” for people, but so few actually experience what it feels like to move away from a diet or a lifestyle that is destructive and into something that offers true nourishment for the body.
Speaking of sharing, if you’ve had an awesome experience at a veg/vegan festival, I’d love to hear it! I’m looking for a couple of guest bloggers to post during the month of September and spread the festival love as a sort of lead-in to all the great stuff happening in October.
